August 6, 2024 was a splendid example of the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer in summer. Everyone was jubilant to be outside and enjoying it. I marinated wings and drumsticks in a Vietnamese style mixture as listed below but multiplied 5 times to cover 10 lbs of wings! Delicious. Everyone else knocked themselves out with pasta salads, corn on the cob, vegetables and lots of desserts. Representatives from the Police Department’s West Precinct attended. The local firemen came as did the barbershop singers. A grand time was had by all. We’re all happy about our new neighbors we welcomed this year. My 7-year-old neighbor said if she was the Block Captain, she would have a party every month!

The barbershop quartet singers did several popular tunes, not the old standards we’ve heard before. Everyone thought they were fun.

The NYT provided the marinade recipe in Vietnamese-Style Chicken with Fragrant Rice Noodles by Kay Chun. The recipe is for 4 servings and 2 lbs. of wings. I multiplied by 5 for 10 lbs. of wings but neglected to get a photo before they were devoured. Here’s the redo with drumsticks. The crowd felt that Grandma’s Sweet Chili dipping sauce was not necessary but I noticed there wasn’t much leftover.
